Assistant Nurse Manager

The Assistant Nurse Manager will be a direct care provider and the first level supervisor who functions under the guidance and leadership of the Nurse Manager in providing administrative and clinical leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex care. He/she will develop collaborative strategies to administer, supervise and evaluate nursing personnel, patient care programs and staff activities on the unit level. ANM is 50% Administrative and 50 % clinical as clinical needs warrant. He/She should be engaged in the administrative practice of nursing characterized by the increased complexity of clinical decisions and skill in nursing management. He/she is accountable for adhering to established policies, standards of care and standards of practice; demonstrating leadership in improving nursing care; and the administration, management, supervision and evaluation of all staff. Demonstrates, promotes, creates and ensures a culturally diverse workforce in which the values and needs of all individuals are respected. All positions require both current CPR Certification and must be in possession of a Registered Nurse License issued from a state of territory of the United States at the time of appointment. Work Schedule:
This position is for extended hours with rotating shift on Monday through Friday. Extended hours shift is:
Sun/Mon off, Tues,Thurs,Fri, Sat 0800-430pm/730-400pm, Wed 930-6. Please be aware that this shift could change based on the needs of the organization. Other shifts possible:
Monday - Friday 730-4pm, Monday through Friday 800-430pm, Monday through Friday 830-500pm, or Monday through Friday 700-330pm. All incoming staff sign extended hours memo. Travel to the other Community Based Outpatient clinics is required. Position is 50% admin, 50% patient care. Financial Disclosure Report:

U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of experience, or ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no experience. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years experience Preferred
Experience:
The Assistant Nurse Manager should have at least two years of professional Nursing experience in a charge nurse role or leadership/management role. The Assistant Nurse Manager should be the subject matter expert in Ambulatory Care/Outpatient Care. BSN Preferred GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing:
