Supervisory Medical Support Assistant

Supervisory MSAs at this level plan and direct programs at medical centers and/or satellite outpatient clinics and have full supervisory responsibility for supervising at least one subordinate team leader or supervisor. Assignments at this level include, but are not limited to:
Assigning and evaluating the work of subordinate staff Resolving complex problems to ensure patient services are met Evaluating new products, equipment, and systems in order to make recommendations for improved operations Identifying educational or training needs. Identifies appropriate disciplinary measures based upon applicable directives and policies (formal/informal counseling, admonishments, reprimands, suspensions, removals). Evaluating performance, and taking disciplinary action when necessary Full administrative and professional responsibility for planning and directing the MSA's activities Responsible for extracting and analyzing data in order to provide reports in support of performance Assist in interviewing candidates for positions in the unit, and recommend appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions. Assists in the development of effective performance standards. All eligibility and enrollment, dental, and employee health for C.W. Bill Young, Palm Harbor CBOC, Sarasota CBOC, and Bradenton CBOC. Responsibilities include but are not limited to community outreach activities, eligibility determination, program management (Decedent Affairs, Personal Funds of Patients, Environmental Examinations & National Registry Data input), financial functions, beneficiary travel billing management, health benefits determination and counseling, subject matter expert and educator/trainer to CBOC staff, Data management, Sharing Agreements. Required to maintain working knowledge of and perform cross coverage work in all program areas of the VSC. Some of these are:
Health Benefits Advisor, Health Benefit Advisor for Sharing Agreements, Medical Care Cost Funds (MCCF), Beneficiary Travel, Personal Funds of Patients, Specialized Program Administration and Management, Decedent Affairs, Fugitive Felon Program, HOPTEL, Veteran Photo Identification Program, Admissions, Outreach Activities, Data Quality and Management, as well as other duties as assigned. Coordinates and supports Veteran Outreach Eligibility Program for the Bay Pines Healthcare Systems. Work Schedule:

For a GS-8 Experience. One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-07. Experience at the GS-07 grade level includes, but is not limited to, the following:
assigning and evaluating the work of subordinate staff; resolving complex problems to ensure patient services are met; evaluating new products, equipment, and systems in order to make recommendations for improved operations; identifying educational or training needs; making final decisions on selections; evaluating performance, and taking disciplinary action when necessary. The employee has full administrative and professional responsibility for planning and directing MSA (includes AMSA and Lead MSA) activities. Responsible for extracting and analyzing data in order to provide reports in support of performance measures to senior management. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no educational substitution for the GS-08 grade level.References:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
