Cardiology- NP

The Cardiology ARNP demonstrates integration of bio-psychosocial concepts, cognitive skills, and technically competent practice in providing care to veterans with complex needs. The duties and responsibilities of the ARNP include, but are not limited to the following:
- Demonstrates clinical competence in cardiology. - Provides consultative and follow up care to hospitalized cardiac patients with backup of attending cardiologist. - Participates in the care of patients seen in various cardiology clinics, including but not limited to the pacemaker clinics, consult clinics and recall clinics. - Coordinates the delivery of complex care including patient evaluation, scheduling cardiac and non-cardiac diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering and interpreting diagnostic labs and tests, patient scheduling, inpatient consultation and telephone triage for cardiac. - Communicates an appropriate differential diagnosis and treatment plan to the appropriate attending cardiologist, referring/fellow providers and clinical staff. - Provides pre-procedure and post-procedure teaching to patient and family - Coordinate and participate in research designed specifically to improve quality of services provided by Cardiology Services. - Assist with the coordination of device implant and patient transfers, including requests from outside. - Demonstrates ability to work effectively with other healthcare providers in the identification, analysis, and resolution of healthcare issues. - Uses effective communication strategies with individuals and groups to facilitate decision-making, improve care delivery systems, and solve problems while promoting a positive work environment. - Demonstrates knowledge of Cardiac Stress Testing and diagnostic cardiac procedures. - Demonstrates ability to utilize effective interpersonal skills. And such other duties as may be assigned by the Chief of Cardiology, Chief of Medicine or Chief of Staff. Work Schedule:

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Experience:
Physical examination, diagnosis, treatment and coordination of medical care with the cardiologists and other subspecialists, primary care providers, social worker, data manager, pharmacist, dietitian, nursing and other personnel as a part of a multidisciplinary team. This coordination also includes operation of quality assurance and utilization programs including peer reviews open and closed medical record reviews and utilization reviews. He/She should provide comprehensive treatment. Maintain an active knowledge of the patient care process at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the medical center and its clinics. An essential element is active knowledge of the medical records system (CPRS). This shall include using the computerized medical record system for progress notes, orders, and medical record review and completion of such records in a complete and timely manner. The ARNP shall have knowledge of and abide by Medical Center Bylaws, VHA Rules and Regulations and have a familiarization with existing VA specific clinical guidelines as well as Medical Service rules, regulations and policies. Candidates should have two to three years' experience as Nurse Practitioner. The candidate must have above-average computer skills, outstanding interpersonal skills, good organizational skills, strong problem-solving skills and decision-making capacity. The ARNP should be a self-starter, able to function independently, be a team player, and must be able to prioritize and function effectively in a high volume program. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree. Reference:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
