Bill Young VA Medical Center.
The dental assistant is under the general supervision of the Service Chief and Supervisory (Lead) Dental Assistant and is expected to perform administratively as they pertain to the dental assistant functions without supervision.
Dental assistants must be extremely familiar with all specialty procedures including operating room dental assisting, laboratory procedures, pouring model, making trays and provisional restorations.
The duties of the Dental assistant include, but are not limited to:
Assist the Dentists in aspects of direct patient care and performs other clinical and clerical functions with direct supervision.
Provide assistance to customers with questions or concerns, providing service recovery.
Take and record patients' blood pressure, pulse and medical history.
Record information into the patient electronic medical record.
Assist patients in scheduling appointments.
Clean dental prostheses, both fixed and removable.
Administer topical anesthesia.
Fabricate, place, and remove temporary dental restorations and crowns.
Place and remove rubber dams and matrix bands.
Remove cement and debris from surfaces of teeth, restorations and bands.
Remove sutures, socket dressings and periodontal dressings.
Irrigate extraction sites.
Make impressions for diagnostic casts and preliminary impressions for prosthetic fabrication.
Perform coronal polishing on teeth.
Provide post-operative and other appropriate patient education.
Assist in routine general dental procedures, as well as specialized dental procedures, such as oral maxillofacial surgery, endodontics, and surgical periodontics.
Participate in patient identification and time out per The Joint Commission (TJC) requirements.
Maintain dental equipment in a clean and operative condition; properly store and maintain adequate levels of supplies.
Prepare and arranges all instruments and materials needed for each treatment; prepare patient and operatory.
Adhere to necessary aseptic precautions throughout treatment.
Perform dental laboratory functions as time and skills allow.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
