00)The Lee County Healthcare Center has an immediate opening, and is actively recruiting for a Licensed Practical Nurse with at least one year of clinical experience.
The Staff LPN position is characterized by a sustained and consistent effort to provide exceptional care and should demonstrate an outstanding standard of practice, team building and collegiality under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
The successful LPN should have a pleasant and professional demeanor should anticipate caring for our patients in a manner that is consistent with the mission, values, priorities, goals and resources of the Bay Pines Veterans Administration Healthcare System.
The LPN should demonstrate a knowledge and ability to provide a full range of practical nursing care and should be fully capable to function as a responsible independent member of the nursing team in the Primary Care, Specialty Care, and Ambulatory Care Clinic or as a Float LPN with the ability to cover several areas after appropriate orientation and training.
The practical nurse should be sufficiently skilled to fully prepare, administer and document patient interactions.
He/she should have outstanding interpersonal skills and should be prepared to participate in interdisciplinary councils, quality improvement meetings and team building activities.
Duties will include but are not limited to patient intake, documentation, diabetic checks, point of care testing including FSG and EKGs, vital signs, phlebotomy, health screening including ETOH, depression and PTSD.
The practical nurse will take histories and document previous physical and or mental health conditions and concerns.
He/she will function in either the Primary Care, Specialty Care or Ambulatory Care Clinic or as a Float LPN depending on patient needs.
One should expect to educate their patients on various disease processes and treatment plans as well as follow-up.
LPNs will perform other duties under the direction of the Charge Nurse and Nurse Manager as assigned.
This position will require full range of manual and finger dexterity to facilitate medication administration and blood draws.
This position will require standing and walking for extended periods of time as well as hearing and vision corrected to the near normal range.
Occasional floating within all the Lee County clinics and areas is required.
This is not a training position and is not open to novice nurses.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
